Ubisoft’s studio Massive Entertainment is helming the project, and since it’s in the early stages, not much is yet known about the game at this point. In January, Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games announced an untitled open-world Star Wars game was in development.
Fortunately for fans, amid these rumors, there are several upcoming Star Wars games confirmed to be in development already. There’s also speculation about a Star Wars: Mandalorian game, inspired by the Disney+ show of the same name, as well as an adaptation of the Star Wars: The High Republic book series. However, Jedi Fallen Order 2 has essentially been confirmed by EA earlier this year, and it makes sense, given how the first game was a critical and commercial success. EA, while lacking exclusive rights, can still make Star Wars games in fact, it’s assumed the company will make a sequel to Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and develop Star Wars: Battlefront 3, though no such official announcement has been made. With the EA deal coming to a close and Lucasfilm Games making a resurgence, there is theoretically no limit to the number of new Star Wars games coming out in the near future. Since then, over 150 Star Wars games have come out, spanning from film and TV adaptations to original narratives in the universe, across all genres of games. The first Star Wars video game, an adaptation of The Empire Strikes Back, was released in 1982 by Intellivision for the Atari 2600. So, what upcoming Star Wars games (besides the inevitable Fallen Order 2) are coming out and have been officially confirmed so far? Some of the most recent Star Wars games have included Star Wars: Squadrons, Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy’s Edge, Star Wars: Battlefront 2, and Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. These titles, and other Star Wars games, are often noted for their quality and popularity, keeping fans looking forward to upcoming titles.
